Beauty Favorite: Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray

Phyto Thermal Protectant

I use a ton of heat on my hair, which means it is extremely prone to breakage. I try to keep my hair as healthy as possible by using an array of different products that claim to protect, smooth, create shine, decrease scalp build-up,  strengthen… list goes on and on.  One of the best hair products I’ve tried in recent years is the Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray. It’s a heat protectant spray that repairs damaged hair and protects from breakage. I think my mom was recommended this brand by her stylist, and she has since got me hooked.

I’ve tried other heat protectant sprays in the past, and I’ve never really noticed them doing much, and while there has been no drastic changes to my hair while using this one, my hair has managed to stay looking pretty healthy through all of the torture I put it through! It embarrasses me to say this, but I haven’t gotten my hair cut in almost a year, because I have been trying to grow it out. I know it’s advised to get regular hair cuts even while growing your hair out, but that never seems to work for me. My hair just always ends up being shorter than I want. So this year I’m trying to let it grow out, and I truly believe using the Phyto thermal spray has really helped with minimizing breakage.

Some other benefits: Phyto is formulated without paragons, sulfates, or phthalates and is cruelty free! Oh, and it smells delicious!!! And finally,  just because I love a good statistic…here you go:

Research results:
Within 1 month of use (self-assessment among 58 women):
- 68% of subjects saw more resistant hair
- 86% of subjects saw silkier hair

I highly recommend this one, friends! It isn’t the cheapest option on the market, but it is well worth the extra bucks.

Wearing this skirt instantly makes me feel like such a lady! I love the longer A-line shape and fun polka dot pattern…ya’ll know how I feel about a polka dot:-) I’ve really liked this longer, sort of mid-century shaped skirt trend we’ve been seeing for the last year or so, but haven’t been brave enough to wear them a whole lot. It’s one of those trends that when I see it on other people I think to myself, “hey, that looks really good”, but I’ve actually and a hard time trying to find the right one for me. I guess my thought has always been, when on earth would I wear this? I’m all about comfort and wearing clothes that fit my environment, and I really have had no use for one of these types of skirts. I was drawn to this particular skirt because I liked that it wasn’t too full or too long, and I think I’ll get some good use out of it (especially on date nights!).

I’ve paired it with a little black tank, but I also think it would look really cute with a chambray top or some sort of graphic print t-shirt and a fitted denim jacket.

A graphic floral print dress like this one is great to have in your arsenal because you can wear it all year round and from the office to a night out on the town. Not only that, but it also makes a bold statement with its graphic floral motif.  When it comes to workwear, my advice is to always pick one piece you’ll be wearing and really make it stand out. It can be difficult to define your style at the office, but don’t be afraid to wear a bold print like this one, or choose adventurous accessories like statement jewelry, a colorful bag, or fun shoes

Another item I think every woman should own is a classic pair of black pumps. I got this pair from Shoemint a couple of years ago and they have become a staple in my wardrobe. I love that they aren’t too high, which makes them work appropriate, but they are still sexy enough to wear  when I want to get a little dressed up.  The pointed toe is a classic and instantly elongates the leg…and who doesn’t want that?

If you’ve ever read my blog or looked at any of my photos, you’ll know I’m a big fan of chambray, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that when I saw this chambray button-down dress at Gap the other day, I immediately picked it up (especially because I had a coupon and it ended up being half off…whooooop!!) I wore this dress last weekend while I was visiting my hometown, and we ended up taking some really fun pictures right at sunset. We were out in what used to be farmland, and what now is about to be another housing development (yippee…said sarcastically) and I think the pictures turned out really cool. It was also fun to play around on all the equipment that was out there…until a dude in a tractor pulled up and about kicked us out..haha.

I love this casual look and think it is the perfect way to appear pulled together without really trying too hard. The shape is a little boxy, so you could totally belt it, but I prefer to wear it big and loose. I think it looks more relaxed that way.

Current Beauty Favorites

It’s been a while since I last did a beauty post, so I thought I would share my current beauty favorites. These are all new products I’ve started using recently and have been loving!

Beauty Favorites

1. Dove Purely Pampering Pistachio Cream with Magnolia

I had been looking for a pistachio scented body wash or lotion for the longest time, but the only one I had been able to find was from Laura Mercier and it was on the expensive side. I stumbled upon this new Purely Pampering line from Dove while I was at Target last week and immediately fell in love with this scent! The pistachio and magnolia is a lovely mix of floral and sweet, and I cannot get enough! Besides the yummy scent, the body wash itself is incredibly moisturizing and feels rich and creamy on the skin. I’m also really excited to try the Coconut Milk and Jasmine Petal scent too…so good!

2. Surface Hydrating Oil

Recently, I started working 1 block from the beach, which means my hair is always a frizzy mess…yuck! I found Surface Hydrating Oil through a friend and was skeptical at first, but I have fallen in love with this product. I’m normally not a big fan of hair oils because I already have naturally oily hair, but this one is much lighter than anything I have ever tried before. It almost has a watery consistency (not thick like other oils). I’ve been using it on my dry hair in the mornings before I get ready for work and I’ve notice that it helps control the frizz and keeps my hair feeling smoother without feeling oily and weighed down.

3. Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Jilted

I love this shade for fall! I usually don’t wear a ton of color on my lips, but I’ve been a big fan of this fun pink shade from Urban Decay. It’s a pretty blue-toned pink that is perfect for this time of year. The formula is long lasting and feels moisturizing on the lips.

4. Benefit They’re Real Push-up Liner

I’ve always had a hard time creating the perfect winged cat eye, but with this product I’ve found it to be much easier. It has a flexible rubber tip that is slanted and makes applying the product much more precise than with an angle brush or traditional liquid liner. Another thing about this liner is that it is practically smudge-proof. I swear, you can rub your fingers all over your eyes and it ain’t going anywhere. In fact, I think Benefit even sells a special remover, but I just use a makeup wipe and it works just fine.

5. Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me

I’ve been a big fan of Baby Lips since Maybelline introduced the line a couple of years ago, however, in the past I had only used the original version. I recently purchased the shade Cherry Me– just because. I thought it might be fun to try a different shade, and I am so glad I did! This lip product is so up my street. It is the perfect amount of color without being overpowering. It makes my lips feel moisturized and shiny, and is the perfect shade of sheer cherry reddish/pink.
